First blog since winning back my European belt at Olympia and it lands on my birthday!

I’ve just got back from a break in Portugal after beating Spada last month, nice to get some sun with the missus, my new daughter, my Mum and my girlfriend’s mum – but I didn’t get a lot of peace and quiet so the iPod took a bit of a bashing after I went for some long walks!

It’s great to be back in the gym and with Tony and Eddie we’re putting the finishing touches to my first defence of the title on July 23. It was a massive buzz getting back into action against Spada – I said afterwards that I wasn’t 100 per cent happy with my performance but that’s because I know I can do better. But it was great to get in there and blast the cobwebs away – Spada was a lively opponent and highly ranked, so that goes down as a quality win. But I’m ready to really step it up now and after a successful defence in July, we’re going to be very close to a World title shot.

Finally, I’m on ESPN’s Talk of the Terrace on Monday night for a look back at the Premier League season. I’ve been told I’m on with Will Mellor, the geezer who used to be in Hollyoaks! He’s a Man Utd fan so I’ll be giving him plenty for the Chelsea boys!
