I must apologise to you lot yet again for being slow at updating this blog but I am in the middle of moving house so I have been double busy. After the birth of our daughter Scarlett Rose, my partner Gem and I decided that our two-bedroom flat wasn’t quite big enough for the three of us. With a lot of help from my sponsor and great mate Luke Chandler, we’ve managed to get a bigger place and the past few weeks has seen Gem and myself busy signing all the necessary paperwork, packing up our things and then, finally moving. Whoever said that buying a house and moving was one of the most stressful things there is had it spot on!
What with moving, I haven’t had time to entertain our culinary expert who is still due to meet up with my brother Lee to revue his grub but hopefully, the wait will have helped him build up his appetite!
The last Saturday of January saw me at a boxing show at London’s York Hall where several of the lads who train at Tony Sims’ gym were fighting. It was good night’s entertainment with two out of three of the results going ‘our’ way. Super middleweight Dan Cadman was unlucky to lose to former World Title holder Robin Reid but lightweight Ryan ‘Crash-Bang’ Taylor beat Robin Deakin after the fight was stopped by the referee. Then, middleweight John ‘The Gorilla’ Ryder, who came out to spar with me in Canada prior to my fight with Martinez, beat Mariusz Biskupski, again after the referee stopped the fight
I am pleased to have been asked to attend an evening of boxing at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge stadium on Thursday March 22nd. It’s in conjunction with the London Amateur Boxing Association in aid of Help a Capital Child and Right to Play which are Chelsea FC’s official charity partners.
Talking of Chelsea, I’m glad that they beat QPR in the FA Cup. The result cancels out Rangers’ 1-0 win in the league when they had to rely on The Blues having two men sent off to beat them.
My training has been going well and I’m currently pencilled in to fight on the under card when Manchester’s Matthew Hatton, the brother of Ricky, travels to take on Sheffield born welterweight Kell Brook in his home town on March 17th. I’m not sure who my opponent will be at this stage but I’ll let you know as soon as I hear.
Finally, I’ve got to wish my life-long friend Lee Waite all the best of British as he is soon to travel to Baghdad to return to his duties as a close protection operative. It’s always great to see him and, during the time he’s been back in England, we’ve been out a few times and had loads of laughs. Good luck Lee – I look forward to seeing you soon mate!
That’s all from me for now – God Bless and take care.
