Life’s been a bit quite for me over the past few weeks. Saturday December 10th saw the anniversary of the death of my brother Gary and I spent the day with my family. We went to Borough Market and had something to eat and had a few drinks in some of the local pubs. It was a quiet, peaceful and reflective day with the thoughts of Gary bonding us together and making us strong as a family.

There is another family gathering taking place this coming Sunday when we’ll meet to celebrate my daughter Scarlett Rose’s first birthday. I can’t believe how quick the time has gone since she was born but she has brought endless pleasure to me, her mum Gemma and both our families.

I’m looking forward to watching Carl Froch take on Andre Ward in Atlantic City on Saturday. Carl is fighting to defend his WBC Title as well as win the Super Six tournament. With him being a stable-mate of mine and British, I’ll be supporting him all the way. Had it not been for the fact that I’m starting a training regime to get myself in condition to fight, I would have fancied going.

Well done to super middleweight George Groves who retained both his British and Commonwealth Titles at Wembley against Paul Smith, and another pat on the back from me goes to middleweight Frank Buglioni – someone I’ve sparred with in the past – who opened his professional career with a win against Sabie Monteith by way of a first round knock-out.

I commentated on Martin Murray against Felix Sturm. Although Murray lost the fight, I thought he did really well and I went away that evening thinking that British boxing, particularly in the middleweight divisions, is in extremely good shape.

The past few Chelsea results have also buzzed me up. The win against Manchester City was brilliant. I’m really pleased for Super Frank Lampard in as much as he scored the winning goal. He’d only been on the field for a few minutes after coming on as a substitute and before he smashed the penalty home, I don’t think he’d touched the ball.

Frank is a really nice guy – I’ve met him a few times – and he is a credit to Chelsea Football Club and England. I like the new manager André Villas-Boas but I hope that he continues to play Frank as I think he still has a lot to offer both club and country.

I went to the game with my mate Graham Bush who plays bass for Madness. When the referee blew the final whistle, the DJ played “One Step Beyond” and the crowd went berserk. They’ve played it a few times at Stamford Bridge when Chelsea have won a big game but I think the celebration after they’d beaten the league leaders last Monday night was the best one I’ve seen so far.
That’s it for now – keep checking this blog – I’ll be writing again soon.

Good luck and God bless.
